From the Middle — Chapter 4: Anno 1629 — The London Partners, the Leyden Coming, and Ashley at Penobscot
WILLIAM BRADFORD
Mr. Allerton carries the colony's letters into England and finds their friends there forward and willing: the London partners join the partnership of trade, and the Leyden people — so long kept back — come over at last with the ships that came to Salem. Sherley's letter of May 25, 1629 rides in the chapter, telling how the Leyden company is on its way, and Mr. Ashley is planted at Penobscot to trade for beaver.

This is the public-domain text of William Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation (Project Gutenberg transcription #24950), presented as a talking hologram book, with all modern editorial matter removed and Bradford's spelling untouched. The narration is a performed reading of that public-domain text, made for this edition. No portrait of Bradford painted from life survives, and the book says so plainly in its disclaimer, which stands first, before the book begins. Editor: Franklin Langston.
